Audio / Classical Conditioning

Ivan Pavlov was the first person to discover the concept of classical conditioning when working with dogs. Ivan stumbled across classical conditioning by accident; he was studying salivation rates with dogs and discovered that the dogs would salivate when they heard or smelled food in anticipation of feeding. This is obvious to us, however what he soon learned was that the dogs would begin to salivate during what seemed like unrelated events. By playing sounds prior to feeding, Pavlov showed that they could be conditioned to unconsciously associate neutral, unrelated events with being fed.

This brings us to the beginning steps of training recall. We will be conditioning your dog to come back to a noise. This part takes practice and consistency. Practice makes permanent, so practice as much as possible!
